  • The Lord Jesus Revealed in the Tabernacle: From the Door to the Throne of Grace

The Maranatha Christian Church Sunday Bible School on December 21, 2025, was held live from the Rádio e TV Maanaim Communications Center in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil, with Pastors Alexandre Gueiros, Gilson Sousa, and Alexandre Brasil participating. The study continued the series on the Tabernacle, within the general theme: Knowing Jesus More and Thus Loving Him More.

“This is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.” (Hebrews 8:1–2, NKJV)

Pastor Gilson Sousa greeted the church with the peace of the Lord Jesus and emphasized that the Tabernacle reveals everything that was prophesied concerning Christ. The study highlighted how Jesus is revealed in every detail of the Tabernacle, fulfilling God’s eternal plan of salvation.

The Tabernacle: God Dwelling with His People

Pastor Alexandre Brasil explained that the Tabernacle was a tent prepared by God so that He might dwell in the midst of His people. Known as the Tent of Meeting, it was the place of fellowship where God made Himself accessible to Israel. This revealed the great truth of Immanuel — God with us — which finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, our hope of glory.

“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27, NKJV)

The Tabernacle was assembled and disassembled according to the movement of the cloud, showing that it was the Lord — not Moses — who directed Israel’s journey. Likewise, the Church today walks under God’s direction toward the Promised Land of eternity.

“So it was, whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents.” (Numbers 9:17, NKJV)

A Heavenly Model and a Transformed People

The Tabernacle was built according to a heavenly model revealed to Moses by God. The materials used — gold, silver, and bronze — were voluntarily offered by the people, who had received them from the Egyptians when God delivered them from slavery. This illustrated how God transforms what once belonged to the world into instruments of worship.

“What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” (Psalm 116:12, NKJV)

Pastor Gilson Sousa emphasized that, just as those materials passed through fire to be shaped for worship, believers today are transformed by the fire of the Holy Spirit to become instruments for the Lord’s service.

Empowered Servants and True Worship

Pastor Alexandre Gueiros highlighted the role of the artisans Bezalel and Aholiab, who were called and empowered by the Spirit of God to build the Tabernacle. Their work followed exactly the pattern revealed by God, teaching the Church that the Work of the Lord is accomplished through obedience and divine direction, not innovation.

“And you shall raise up the tabernacle according to its pattern which you were shown on the mountain.” (Exodus 26:30, NKJV)

Holiness, voluntary offerings, and priestly ministry marked the service and worship in the Tabernacle. In the same way, the Church today serves the Lord out of gratitude, not obligation, worshiping Him in spirit and in truth.

From the Door to the Throne of Grace

The study concluded by showing the path revealed in the Tabernacle. From God’s perspective, grace moves toward the sinner. From man’s perspective, the journey begins at the door — Jesus Christ — passes through the altar of burnt offerings, and leads into the presence of God.

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.” (Hebrews 10:19–20, NKJV)

By grace, God comes to meet us. By faith, we go to meet Him.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8, NKJV)

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, NKJV)
