“And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.”

The Sunday Bible School on November 16, 2025, was transmitted live from the Maanaim of Domingos Martins, Espírito Santo, to all Maranatha Christian Churches worldwide, with Pastors Alexandre Gueiros and Gilson Sousa participating. The study opened a new series on the revelation of the Lord Jesus through the Tabernacle, a theme that leads the church to deeper understanding, love, and expectation of His return.

Knowing Jesus Through the Tabernacle

Pastor Gilson emphasized that God’s purpose in revealing the Tabernacle to Moses was to dwell among His people. Just as Israel experienced the presence of the living God at Mount Sinai, the Lord continues to reveal Himself to His church today.

While the law exposed sin, it could not redeem. Therefore, in His grace, God presented the Tabernacle—a place where the sinner could have his guilt removed. The structure shown to Moses was earthly in form yet eternal in meaning, pointing to the redeeming work of Jesus and God’s desire to “tabernacle” with His people.

The Pattern from Heaven

Pastor Alexandre highlighted how Moses’ fellowship with God prefigures the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who leads the church into all truth and glorifies Jesus. The Tabernacle, built strictly according to the heavenly pattern, reflects God’s order and holiness.

Today, in the new covenant, the Lord dwells in the hearts of His people, writing His law within us and calling us to walk in sanctification. Every detail of His Work matters, just as every detail of the Tabernacle mattered, so that the glory of the Lord may be seen in His church.

The tearing of the temple veil at Jesus’ death signaled a new and perfect access to God. Now, through the sacrifice of Christ, the church enjoys full fellowship with the Lord—something the first covenant could only foreshadow.

Eternal Realities

The Tabernacle points forward not only to the work of Jesus on earth but also to the glory of eternity. Revelation 21:3 reminds us that one day the voice from heaven will declare: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men.”
Until that day, the Lord calls His church to:

  • Build His spiritual sanctuary,
  • Follow His revealed pattern, and
  • Keep a heart purified and sanctified by the blood of Jesus.
